Brown Advisory US Sustainable Growth Fund Sterling Class B Dis Shares

US Equities

New for 2020. Looks to tap into sustainable business strategies

Brown Advisory US Sustainable Growth is interactive investor's active choice for US equity investors looking to invest in a sustainable manner. It has joined our Rated Funds for 2020 on that basis. The fund has consistently outperformed peers and the Russell 1000 Growth index.

Managers Karina Funk and David Powell test their stock selection against back-end screens to avoid certain controversial areas. The fund excludes companies that defy the United Nations' global compact principles, while its environmental, social and governance (ESG) screening process imposes limits on companies that derive more than 5% of revenue from tobacco, alcohol, gambling and the like. The fund falls into interactive investor's 'considers' category because it goes further than negative screening to consider a range of ethical and/or ESG issues or themes when balancing positive and negative factors.

Funk and Powell believe sustainable business strategies can drive a firm's financial performance and long-term share price through revenue growth, cost improvements and enhanced franchise value. The managers seek to identify durable businesses with fundamental strengths, sustainable competitive advantages and compelling valuations.
