Money Observer May 2018 issue on sale now: Take a stake in tomorrow’s world with seven super-trends of the future

The latest issue of Money Observer comes with the quarterly Trust supplement, which this month includes our much-anticipated annual investment trust awards recognising the crème de la crème of consistently top-performing trusts. Our winners span 15 categories, including the premier group award for the overall strongest investment trust management group. This year’s winner runs seven trusts, all of which have produced impressive three-year returns and several of which have won individual award categories.

The main magazine, meanwhile, focuses in part on the opportunities to invest in tomorrow’s world. It includes a feature by our award-winning cryptocurrency writer Gary McFarlane on longer-term prospects for bitcoin and its peers; an analysis of how to profit from the long-term ‘super-trends’, from robotics and battery technology to the silver economy, that are already shaping our world and will have increasing impact in coming years; and a piece on the risks and  merits of investing in micro-caps – tiny companies with the potential to become tomorrow’s major success stories.

Our asset allocation panel are lined up once again, and this time they are inclined to take some risk off the table in certain markets; and we also ask whether investors without exposure to China and Greater China are missing a trick.

Elsewhere, Kyle Caldwell embarks on his own personal journey to get to grips with the workings of the stock market as a direct equity investor, rather than via the more familiar Money Observer territory of open-ended funds and investment trusts. Over coming months we’ll follow his progress as he learns more about the nuts and bolts of share investment and builds his own equity portfolio. We also review our 12 Model Portfolios and find they have held up well in the face of the stormy markets of early 2018.

There’s plenty more to get your teeth into too, including more than 30 pages of detailed fund, trust, ETF and share performance data. We hope you enjoy it.
