Rosemary Banyard, who ran the Schroder UK Mid Cap trust among various other UK smaller and mid-cap funds during an 18-year career with the fund manager, managing assets of around £1 billion, has joined the Sanford DeLand team as investment director.
The fund, which aims to mirror Warren Buffett's investment approach, has won Money Observer's Best Smaller Fund award for the past two years. Since launch it has trounced the UK all companies sector average of 49 per cent, returning 117 per cent; it is ranked eighth in the sector, out of 239 funds.
SIMILAR INVESTMENT PRINCIPLES
Banyard's long experience as a small and mid-cap specialist has been widely recognised; her UK Mid Cap trust won Money Observer's Best UK Equity award in 2014.
Commenting on the move, Banyard says: 'Keith and I have very similar principles when it comes to investment. I am eager to combine our financial and analytical skills so we can innovate and introduce, subject to the appropriate FCA approvals, new investment products in the future to complement SDL's highly successful Buffettology product already in the market.'
Ashworth-Lord adds: 'Rosemary and I both discovered that we shared passion for fundamental business analysis, long-term thinking and business perspective investing.
'I believe that as like-minded individuals we can add new business and new products that will be able to attract further asset management opportunities and drive stakeholder returns over the medium to long term.'
